Alert Glossary
We have the ability to filter groups of alerts to customize TradeScanTM to your trading style.
I like to see multiple indications that more than one item of strength is in play.
Ex. "market makers bidding up", "size on the bid" and "trading up fast" would indicate
that there is support from multiple areas. None of these alerts by themselves, while true,
would necessarily indicate a momentum move without the others. This is how I attempt
to differentiate between false moves and temporary order flow. Additionally,
as a stock continues a move, when the alerts stop repeating, it is an indication
that momentum is trailing off, a good exit indicator.
The following alert descriptions follow the format below:
EXACT NAME OF ALERT AS IT APPEARS IN YOUR SELECTION WINDOW
Display: The exact sentence that will appear on your screen.
Blanks are used to represent real-time data inserted into the sentence.
The descriptor "__.__ x n.v." shows the multiple of average daily volume extrapolated
from the portion of the trading day completed. The phrase in "( )" shows the bearish
variation of the alert. "K" equals 1,000 shares.
Trigger: What causes the alert to display on your screen.
Behavior: How the alert is programmed to act. For example, "No repeats"
indicates that the alert will only display again when it fails the screen and qualifies
once again. "Repeats" would display again without having to fail the screen first.
Significance: How you can determine the significance of the alert.
For example, "Repeats" means that if an alert is designed for "No repeats" and
it begins to display multiple times, it means that the stock is continuing to validate
the filters, an excellent sign of significance. "Volume multiples" means that
significance can be interpreted by the multiple of average daily volume that the
stock is currently trading for the day, prorated for the portion of the day completed.
For example, a value of 2.0 indicates it is trading at a rate of twice its average
daily volume. Another indication of significance
Color: The color legend assigned to this alert. Colors selectable
are "Normal", "Very Good", "Good", "Bad" and "Very Bad". Color options can be chosen under "Tools", "Options".

High/Low Intelligent Alerts
Our alerts go through extensive background liquidity filtering before they ever reach your desktop.
The term "intelligent" describes this unique characteristic of TradeScan's high/low alerts.
Our background filters screen for sufficient volume, range, price, etc. By the time it
reaches your desktop, you know it has passed our liquidity screens.
Our set of high/low indicators is purposely designed to be efficient, by allowing
only one alert to be displayed for the most significant high/low. For instance,
if it's a 52 week high, you will know by default that it's a 21 day, 3 day, 2 day and daily high.
There is no need to see anything but the most significant indicator, which is the 52 week high.
We refer to this as being "superceded by superior high/low alerts" under the "Behavior" characteristic.
Example:
- 52 week high/low - always shows if true
- 21 day high/low - shows if not 52 week
- 3 day high/low - shows if not a 21 day or 52 week
- 2 day high/low - shows if not a 3 day, 21 day or 52 week
- new daily high/low - shows only if none of the above
We also offer some of our high/low alerts as a separate "stand alone" alert.
When noted as such under the "Behavior" characteristic, it will show ALL highs/lows
of that particular indicator regardless of the superior alerts.

Level II Intelligent Alerts
Level II alerts also go through more extensive background liquidity filtering before
they ever reach your desktop. The term "intelligent" further describes this unique
characteristic of TradeScan's Level II alerts. While our background filters screen
for sufficient volume, range, price, etc., our foreground filters look at the
Level II data, including market maker movements, size indicated, time and sales data,
etc. By the time Level II alerts reach your desktop, you know it has passed not
only our liquidity screens, but our tradability screens as well.
